Syncing a Tascam DA-40 and a VS-880?

by "Mark Foley" <foleym@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Mar 7, 2007 at 09:19 PM

Hi there,

I am doing live recording of my band and this dictates a sort of mobile
recording setup which I then bring into my ProTools
studio at home.

With my 880 I have only 4 tracks available. I also have a Tascam DAT
recorder which I am trying to use for an additional 2 tracks.

I use this to track our 2 vocalists.
I then bring all 6 tracks into ProTools and manually try to line up the 2
vocal tracks with the rest of the tracks.
This is not completely unusuable, but it does uncover a problem where the
alignment of the tracks, which is quite good
at the start of the song, is slightly off by the end resulting in a kind
of
over-reverb.

When I recorded I synced the VS-880 clock to the Tascam using the digital
connector. I'm not sure if there is any benefit to this at all.

In short, what is the best way to, or is there one, to reduce or eliminate

the aforementioned slippage that seems to occur?

Thanks

Mark
