I'm hacking together an FDMS-3 ripper program for the Fostex FDMS-3
filesystem. I haven't found anything suitable for Windows, and
it seemed like a fun thing to do.
You have to crack the case, find a spare IDE connector, hook up the
drive (after removing it from the VF16/VF160, of course) so it's not
too convenient, but I know some people are using these for capturing
shows. It should knock a three-hour show @[EMAIL PROTECTED]
16 tracks down to an hour
or two transfer time instead of six-eight over Lightpipe.
In truth, you can use a USB cable, but I don't have one and
therefore can't test it. SFAIK, the software cannot harm the disk itself.
I have an email out to the author of the "dd" utility for Windows,
so you may have to image the drive first, unless I get permission
to redistribute dd.
It will take the form of a single executable GUI program. It'll
be very beta but I've already run though my supply of three disks
and it works. I'm reasonably certain the software cannot harm the disk.
If you are interested, please email me at lcargill at cfl dot rr dot com
and I'll put you on a status mailing list.
