I have to disagree with this... I have 2 kids 8 & 14. My 14 yr old 
listens to all kinds of old rock and punk music. I've turned him on to 
everything from Alice (he's seen him 3 times now) to Cheap Trick to 
Ramones and *** Pistols... he likes it all, but he also listens to the 
newer bands, Flogging Molly, NoFX, and whatever else he listens to. He's 
also found some of the 80's hair music on his own.

My 8 yr old loves Alice (he's seen him twice now, the first time from 
about 3 ft from the front of the stage... even got splattered by stage 
blood when Alice's head was held up for everyone to see). I have a 
feeling he'll be listening to a lot of old music when he gets a few 
years older.
