Well my copy of Along Came A Spider arrived today and I am geeked. While
I have been listening to it on the My Space page for the last week, it
is still exciting to get the CD. Yet again, here we are with new music
and no sup****t from Detroit Radio.
My fellow Detroit fans here can correct me if I am wrong but I have not
heard a thing form the new CD being played as has been the case since
The Last Temptation. The only time new music is played is when the Coop
is visiting the station. Once he leaves, I am sure they are tossing the
CD. As I have done many times int he past, I have written to the
stations to ask why and here are some of the responses I have gotten:
"Alice Is Old News"
"I am sorry to say that Alice has nothing unique to offer"
"The CD is pretty mediocre"
"I was hoping it would be good but it is not"
"We just can not justify playing any of the new stuff when there is so
much new great talent out there doing better"
This last one really got me since, as I am writing this, one station is
playing a new song by Kid Rock that musically is pretty much Warren
Zevon's Werewolf's of London, and there is some new band getting a lot
of airplay using the cord riffs from Judas Priest's "Living After
Midnight". Both songs are good but not very original and there is plenty
more of that everyday.
I am curious if other fans around the country are experiencing the same
thing. While I love the old stuff, (Hell I was there at the concerts
when they were hits) I want to hear the new stuff to.
