Looking for a new outlet to play your band instrument? Or are you
looking for a way to help your country, without fear of being deployed
to some far-away place? Well, the Georgia State Defense Foce, the
unarmed, all-volunteer branch of the Georgia Department of Defense --
(the branch that stays in Georgia) is forming a marching band. If you
play a band instrument, and have a positive, enthusiastic attitude, we
wnt you! All instruments in just about all sections are needed. We
rehearse on Saturday mornings at the Oglethorpe Armory National Guard
headquarters in Forest Park. We play marches as well as popular
music. We play at GSDF and National Guard
ceremonies as well as at public venues such as the upcoming Crepe
Myrtle Festival and the recent Atlanta Home Show at the Georgia World
Congress Center. In February, we played at the State Capitol and got
to meet Gov. Sonny Perdue.
