Conductors' Competition 2008, an update

by Nigel Horne <njh@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Oct 31, 2007 at 11:24 AM

There will be six qualifying heats held across the UK during March and
April 2008; the final will be held on 21st June. Winners of the heats
will each receive £100.

The competition is open to anyone aged 21 or over who is not a
professional level conductor.

During each round the contestant will need to study sections of three
well known brass band scores. On the day of the competition the
contestant will be asked to rehearse a band of at least first section
standard for around 25 minutes on one of the pieces.

The winner of each heat will be invited to take part in the final on 21st
June 2008 where they will be conducting the Virtuosi GUS Band.

Applications to take part need to be received by 4th January 2008.

The Association's website, http://www.nabbc.org.uk,
has further details,
an application form, a copy of the rules and updates.
