Piano Trio Op 70 No 1 "Ghost"

by Cellist <??@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Oct 13, 2006 at 06:23 PM

I've been recently listening to Beethoven's Piano Trio No 1 Op 70, the
"Ghost" trio, and my question is if someone can tell me what form the
last movement is in. I have trouble picking out two clear themes,
which would seem to me it is not a strict sonata-form movement,
however I do feel like there is a development and recapitulation. I've
read in one place it is in 'tripartite' form, though I'm not clear
what that specifically is indicating in this instance. Anyone
knowledgable on this piece who can help would be appreciated.

Thanks

BH
