I am conducting research about Napster for my undergraduate
dissertation. The aim of this post is to try and foster an open
discussion and build up a set of opinions and encourage debate. Here
are some questions to get people going.
What are your opinions on Napster and more generally on downloading
mp3s on the Internet?
Did you use Napster? If so, how much?
Why did you use Napster?
Were there instances when you downloaded music and then later
purchased it? In effect using Napster as a sampling tool.
What did you like about using Napster?
When Napster shut what did you use in its place to get music online?
In you view what type of person downloads music from the Internet? Is
there one type? In the court case the Recording Industry Association
of America (RIAA) mainly classified Napster users as students, were
they wrong to do this? Do you fit into this category?
What do you think about the new Napster system? Would you use it? Has
regulation gone too far?
