I am looking for a recording i have listened to often as a kid, but
the venyls of my parents are long gone and my parents dont remember
any details, so i hope someone of you fellow jazz fans will be able
to
help me:
This is what i remember about the record:
1) Live recording
2) Lionel Hampton played with Benny Goodman and the FULL Benny
Goodman
big band
3) The time of the recording must have been in the 30th/40th
4) The recording was in a huge black box with silver writings on the
cover from VERVE. Inside each venyl had 1 famous artist on it per
side
and a huge black and white picture of each artist.
The box had Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Johnny
Hodges, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, just to mention a few in it.
5) The tune was a melody which sounded like a broadway melody, very
fast and swinging.
At times i catch myself whisteling it, but since i whistle realy bad
nobody was able to identify the tune, even a few professional jazz
muscians whom i know. ;)
Sorry that i have no further informations, but any help would be
appreciated a lot.
Thank you a lot in advance for your help and a Happy Christmas from
germany.
yours
Peter
