Casa Loma Orchestra

by Tuba Bob <rscherago@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 20, 2008 at 08:56 PM

June 13, 2008, marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Clarence
Hutchenrider.

Considered the top soloist with the influential Casa Loma Orchestra
in the early 1930=92s, Clarence Hutchenrider was a well-respected
jazz player who was content to mostly be a sideman throughout
his prime years.

You can learn more about Mr. Hutchenrider and the Casa Loma
Orchestra by listening to A One Night Stand with the Big Bands,
with your host, Arnold Dean, at www.goldenage-wtic.org.

At this site you will find 43 full-hour radio shows, produced in
the 1960s and 1970s by WTIC in Hartford, featuring interviews
with and the music of big names from the big band era,
including Artie Shaw, Gene Krupa, Duke Ellington, and Mr.
Hutchenrider.

At this same site you will also find 89 full-hour programs
featuring interviews with old time radio stars, writers, and
producers, and excerpts from their shows. The Golden Age
of Radio host Dick Bertel interviews Rudy Vallee, Gale Storm,
Vincent Price, Jack Benny, and a host of other radio
personalities plus some other interesting features from radio''s
past.

All programs are downloadable MP3 files, and there is no
charge or registration needed. Just download and enjoy.
