I saw their secret show last month at Cafe Du Nord in SF, I do distinctly
remember two new songs. McCrea introduced the first one by asking the
audience if they had cell phones and then he talked about how much of a
disruption they were. Cake then went into a song I believe was called
"Cell
Phone" although some others have posted on Cake's website as remembering
it
being called "No Phone". It had a very cool bass line to start it out
that
continued throughout the song and then in the middle, they "brought it
down"
for an audience singing part similar to 'Sheep Go To Heaven'. John sang
somethink like "Cell phone cell phone, I've just got to be alone" or "Cell
phone cell phone, I just want to be alone", then had the audience sing it
back. That continued about eight times or so. I remember thinking "this
song is so catchy, it is surely destined to be on a movie soundtrack, TV
show or some other outlet". One other song was called "Too Much Carbon
Monoxide". Though good, it didn't stand out as much as the other. I
don't
remember the other new ones they played.
