10/5 Roxy Show Info and Equipment

by jgossard@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Jon Gossard) Oct 6, 2004 at 07:16 PM

For those who are interested, the show at the Roxy last night was
terrific. In my opinion, Xan McCurdy is an incredible guitarist. The
guy plays note-perfect and sounds absolutely great (as does the whole
band, really). Watching him play from six feet away was a highlight
of the show. Anyhow, the songs they played (not in order) were:

Wheels (encore)
No Phone
Carbon Monoxide
Waiting
Tougher Than It Is
Comfort Eagle (encore, if I remember correctly)
Sheep Go To Heaven
Frank Sinatra
The Distance
Daria
I Will Survive (encore)
Stick****fts and Safetybelts
Haze of Love
How Do You Afford Your Rock 'n' Roll Lifestyle?

I think that was it, but if someone remembers differently, please let
me know!

By the way, I've seen some folks asking about equipment, so since I
was standing at the stage I tried to see what I could for you. Here's
what I saw:

- John plays an old Goya acoustic guitar through a tiny Fender amp.
- Xan plays a Guild (Starfire III?) through a (vintage?) tweed Fender
amp, looked like maybe the Hot Rod series. He had three pedals I
could see, one of which was a tuner, not sure about the other two.

Enjoy,

Jon
