Woody Guthrie tribute event featuring special guest,
Ramblin Jack Elliott *******************
This daylong event will feature workshops in the
daytime hours and a grand evening concert.
Workshop schedules have been finalized as follows:
11:00 AM LVFMS group leads an open sing-along of Woody
Guthrie songs. Bring your songs to share, instruments
and your voices. Also, bring a tape recorder to get
any songs you don't know already. We will be sharing
as many of Woody's songs as we can fit into the time
allowed.
12:00 PM Tom Flannery will conduct a workshop on songs
in the Woody style and how to write your own songs a
la Woody. Check out Tom's website, SongsforWoody.com
to see and hear Tom's site devoted to his admiration
of Woody. You can hear his original songs about Woody
there. Tom also wrote a show named "God and the Ghost
of Woody Guthrie" which premiered at the Dietrich
Theater in Tunkhannock PA, where it played to sold out
houses and garnered critical acclaim.
1:30 PM The Guthrie Archives will be giving a
workshop on the art of Woody Guthrie. Woody did many
works of art, including political cartoon style
illustrations. Find out about his little known other
side. A collection of Woody's art will be on display
throughout the day and evening events.
2:30 PM Ramblin Jack Elliott will be singing songs and
telling stories about his travels and friend****p with
Woody. Ramblin' Jack has been a fixture on the folk
music scene for years. Many famous people claim him
as an influence in their own performing styles. You
won't want to miss this one!
Round 4:00 PM Midday break Go eat, let the dog(s) out
or whatever Saturday chores you can fit in before the
evening show. If you live far away, you are welcome
to hang out at the Ice House between sessions.
Someone will be there all day. Restaurants and
shopping close by in historic downtown Bethlehem.
7:30 PM Concert featuring the LVFMS performing group,
Tom Flannery, and our very special guest, Ramblin Jack
Elliott. This looks to be a great evening! Register
