I just thought I'd change the top thread, I hope no-one minds.
I've been down to the pub tonight, Ireland were playing France in the
soccer world cup in Paris and came away with a creditable 0-0 draw.
The pub was full, not for the football but because of a wedding party,
which made it livelier than usual. I bumped into my brother who had
been there since lunch-time, and he'd built up quite a head of steam.
He'd turned up late for the ceremony because he'd fancied a big fried
breakfast, but at least it soaked up a few of the drinks. The bride
didn't mind too much, it will be a talking point in the future. He's
the one of my brothers who shares my musical tastes, the only one of
the seven (brothers) who owns a Woody Guthrie CD. None of my sisters
does, they are mostly younger and into tamla mowtown or new wave
eighties stuff, and beyond educating anyway.
It's Autumn here, bit of dew on the grass, some wonderful spiders'
webs in the hedges, and I have one beauty in my shed. It has spun a
web completely across the doorway and sits there on guard, I think
it's been reading about Robert the Bruce, or maybe the biblical story
about Daniel. I like spiders, they are the most misunderstood of God's
creatures. Different varieties have different talents, some of which
would defy belief. One type can make a web balloon to enable it to
breathe whilst underwater, another makea a lassoo out of it's web to
trap insects. A tarantula feels like a ball of cotton wool if you hold
it in your hand, and is more frightened of you than you are of it. But
I'm rambling again... I just wanted to get that top thread off. Bye
for now
Cheers
Micky
