Nice little review of the album in this month's Uncut magazine, short
enough to copy.. (ahem...)
Welch and Rawlings apart, it's hard to recall two modern country
voices that dovetail as elegantly as this husband-and-wife team. There
are flavoursome dollops of Gram and Emmylou )'In Lieu Of Flowers' is
their own 'We'll Sweep Out The Ashes In The Morning') or even Emmylou
with Neil Young ('Exploration'). Alone, Woody's granddaughter is
capable of Bobby Gentry sultriness on 'Mornin's Over', but together
they rip up a storm on 'Gotta Prove'. Co-produced by the Jayhawks'Gary
Louris with a brace of Son Volt men on board, it's a dream. * * * * (
Four stars)
I couldn't have put it better myself.....
Cheers
