ï Bowery Poetry Club in New York City to host Seventh Annual Woody Guthrie
Birthday Bash.
ï Round Robin Songfest featuring MacDougal Street Rent Party and friends
to take
place on Sunday, July 8, 2007, starting at 7:00 PM.
New York City's Bowery Poetry Club will play host to a two-hour songfest
honoring the 95th birthday of American folk legend Woody Guthrie. This
Seventh
Annual Woody Guthrie Birthday Bash will begin promptly at 7:00 PM, Sunday,
July
8, 2007. The cover charge is only $6, plus a one drink minimum purchase
per
person.
Born in Okemah, Oklahoma, on July 14, 1912, Woody Guthrie lived in New
York off
and on from 1940 until his death from Huntington's disease in 1967. This
Birthday Bash celebration will feature Guthrie's songs performed in
round-robin
fa****on by the members of MacDougal Street Rent Party: Joel Landy, Eric
Levine,
Anne Price, Steve Suffet, and Gina Tlamsa. All have performed at previous
Woody
Guthrie Birthday Bashes. Also performing will be Woody Guthrie Birthday
Bash
veterans Jessica Feinbloom and Hillel Arnold, as well as newcomer Mimi
LaValley.
As in the past, Carlos Vazquez will provide accompaniment on the bass.
The Bowery Poetry Club is located at 308 Bowery, between Houston and
Bleecker
Streets in the East Village section of Lower Manhattan. It is directly
across
the street from where CB's 313 Gallery, the site of the the first six
Woody
Guthrie Birthday Bashes, used to be before it closed last year. For
