Hi all,
has there been any discussion about the measures 8/9 in the Siciliano
of BWV 1031?
It seems to me that the echoing statement of the flute and cembalo is
somewhat superfluos. Actually I cannot see any sense in it... Try the
bass of m. 8 together with the cembalo right hand of m. 9, and a
single c'' for the flute. This makes up for a nice 8-measure period.
Maybe this has to do with the process of transcription of the work,
which is thought to be only arranged by Bach. Is there anything in the
literature or in cover texts about it?
Best regards,
Stephan
