I can't give an in depth, detailed, song-by-song review, simply because I
haven't learned them all quite well enough to be familiar enough and feel
comfortable doing that kind of write up. However, I must say that overall,
I
like 'Lifeblood' a lot more than 'Know Your Enemy.' I feel like they could
have just dropped 3/4 of that album, grabbed a handful of the songs that
were worth keeping (IMO) and made an EP out of KYE between TIMTTMY and
Lifeblood and it would have made more sense. To me, the natural
progression
is from TIMT to Lifeblood, and KYE seems like one last shot at "rockin'
out"
that really kinda... didn't. They must have known where they were wanting
to
go, but maybe with all of the backlash from the fans about TIMT being too
mellow, they caved to the criticism and said "but no! we're not fogies
yet!
we can still hammer out a rock song or three!" .. but their hearts really
weren't in it. That's just my opinion. Then, thankfully, they must have
decided to go with where they've been headed since EMG and say "**** it,
we
don't care what people think 'cos we could take it or leave it at this
point" ... and they're much better for it. Granted, there are a couple of
songs I'm not crazy over, but at least they did it their way.. and without
the clanking keyboards. ;)
