I agree with that sentiment for the London show. But the scene with
the stageband in mythical Woodstock, with the Civil War-esque
musicians and that big ol' bass drum, doing a Basement Tapes track? I
think that was an intentional tribute (haha, acknowledging that The
Band didn't have dedicated trumpet players...).
As an interesting sidenote, that's Jim James doing the vocals/acting
on that track, the frontman from My Morning Jacket. This band has a
tangential association with The Band, covering It Makes No Difference
for the recent tribute album Endless Highway, which they recorded at
Levon's studio. Secondly, when I saw Dylan this summer at Red Rocks,
My Morning Jacket was the opener. Strangely, one wouldn't deduce this
connection from MMJ's studio albums...
