Not sure why he was edited out (there were a number that were
including a number of The Band songs that I would love to see
including Georgia and King Harvest) - but I believe when you listen to
the Scorcese commentary on the making of The Last Waltz on the latest
reissue of LW, he indicates there were times that they simply had to
take breaks.
Recently, there was a post in rec.music.dylan about The Band receiving
a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award and a contributor dug up some
wonderful Band performances on YouTube including Georgia. Well, when
I went back to look at it again the other day, it had been removed due
to "a copyright claim by NBC Universal". And then another one
disappeared with the same reason stated. Yesterday I searched and
favourited a number of Last Waltz performances on YouTube that are
taken from the offical release - I'll be keeping an eye on these and
see what the fate of these are.... Can only suggest you search YouTube
re Bobby Charles and see what turns up - with luck (a) you might find
something and (b) it might stay around....
