Well, it could have been worse... they could have accused AC/DC of
causing people to get tattoos! :-)
  There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'...
P.S. Mark Putterford's (sp?) Shock to the System is where I got the
"they could have accused AC/DC of causing people to get tattoos!" from
-- see below...
"There was a women's magazine in Australia that really upset my
mum," Angus told the author. "While we were home she called me into
the room to show me this story that had a picture of a nice, clean-cut
pop star on one page, and a picture of me on the other page. It
said: 'This nasty little piece of work is Angus Young -- and this is
what the juvenile delinquents of today are turning to'."
The remark hurt, but the 'Seedies' (as they were affectionately
known by their fans at the time) didn't take it seriously. After all,
the backlash from conservative Australia was always busy whipping up
all sorts of distortions to promote their attitudes.
"They accused us of causing violence in the suburbs, they accused
us of inciting kids to get themselves tattooed," Angus said, "just
because Bon had a few tattoos on his arms! Some Minister even stood
up in the Australian Parliament once and blamed us for all the
tattooing going on! Imagine paying your taxes just to have some jerk
wasting everyone's time about us and tattoos!"
Bon, incidentally, got his tattoos from hanging out with a few
unsavory characters in his youth: "He'd go out cray fi****ng with
these really rough redneck Aussies," Malcolm explained, "and they made
him get all these tattoos. Basically, if he didn't he'd get the ****
kicked out of him!"
"I could never see what the problem with tattoos was," Angus
mused. "I mean, the world is full of evil people, and we were getting
abused because Bon had a parrot or something painted on his arm..." --
