7. This week's top 50:
Once again the very top end of the chart is unchanged this week.
Kings Of Leon celebrate a 4th week at number one with "*** On
Fire" while Pink spends her 4th week at number 2 with "So What".
Despite the fact Pink's album "Funhouse" is the nation's biggest
seller with triple-platinum sales, her singles are still selling
strongly. In addition to "So What" not moving from number 2,
her new single "Sober", available in digital format only at the
moment, continues moving upwards, climbing from number 16 to
11 this week.
The big mover within the top 10 comes from Lady GaGa, with her
second single "Poker Face" bulleting from number 9 to 3. Her
burst into the top 3 knocks each one of last week's number 3 to 7
hits down exactly one spot this week.
Two singles make the top 10 for the very first time this week.
The second single by Kings Of Leon titled "Use Somebody" moves
up from number 12 to 9 with the CD single of this track not
hitting the shops until later this month. The *****cat Dolls
are also new to the top 10 as "I Hate This Part" moves up
10 big places from number 20 to 10 thanks to the CD single
being released and debuting at number 7 on that dedicated chart.
Just two new songs make this week's top 50, although 4 drop out,
partially off-set by two re-entries consisting of The Potbelleez
with "Don't Hold Back", now in its 37th charting week, and Leona
Lewis is also back with her recent hit "Forgive Me".
18. GOTTA BE SOMEBODY - Nickelback
CD single: #6
Digital track: #25
Song lyrics: www.tinyurl.com/nickelback-gbs
Artist website: www.nickelback.com
Canadian rock group Nickelback return to the singles chart
this week after an almost two year absence. We last left
them back in 2005 and 2006 when their "All The Right Reasons"
album ended up as a huge seller across those years, eventually
ac***ulating a 4-times platinum sales award. From that huge
album also came huge hit singles including the top 3 hits
"Photograph" and "Far Away", then another 3 top 50 singles
followed. Nickelback's 6th studio album is titled "Dark
Horse" and will be out very shortly. From that album comes
their new single "Gotta Be Somebody" which debuts at number 18
this week. While Nickelback were fairly quiet on the charts in
2007, we did see lead singer Chad Kroeger join Mexican-born
guitarist Carlos Santana on the track "Into The Night" which
climbed to number 4 in December 2007.
44. GET SHAKY - The Ian Carey Project
CD single: #39
Digital track: (not in top 40)
Music video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZfWLs05bo0
Song lyrics: www.tinyurl.com/the-ian-carey-project
Artist website: www.iancarey.com
From the US comes Ian Carey, who was born into a family of
music with his father being a sound engineer and his mother
a guitar player and hobby vocalist. Ian discovered dance
music while at college and eventually moved to Europe where
dance music is more popular and he became quickly recognised
for his production and mixing skills. His current single
"Get Shaky" debuts at number 44 this week and the CD single
features 4 separate mixes of the song.
