Art of Arabic Drumming DVD

Kelowna, BC, December 8th 2007 - Local musician and best selling
author Trevor Salloum has once again teamed up with Canadian
television producer Jiri Bakala and international publisher Mel Bay
Publications to produce his second DVD entitled: The Art of Arabic
Drumming. The DVD is devoted to teaching the mystical art of Arabic
drumming and features the doumbek (Arabic drum).

Salloum takes you on a journey into his Middle Eastern roots and
provides a clear presentation of technique, soloing and common Arabic
rhythms. If that is not enough, this DVD includes a rare, special
feature performance of world-renowned Middle Eastern percussionist
Michel Merhej Baklouk on doumbek and riq (Arabic tambourine)

Trevor Salloum studied music at York University and various forms of
indigenous percussion in Cuba, Brazil and the Middle East.

The DVD The Art of Arabic Drumming was produced in Kelowna, BC, by
independent television production company Ascent Films Inc.

Michel Merhej Baklouk is one of the most distinguished Lebanese
traditional percussionists in the Arab World. Baklouk toured worldwide
with the renowned Lebanese singer Fairuz and has performed with many
famous Arab singers including Sabah, Wadih El Safi, Abdul Wahab, Farid
El-Atrash, Warda and Abdel Halim Hafez. In addition, he has worked
with major Arab composers and icons of Middle Eastern dance.
