Ummmm.....no. I own nearly all of Ani Difranco's catalog of albums and
have
seen her perform live. She doesn't *write* songs like "Wi****n' and Hopin'
".
They're far more personal and political in nature. Some are cynically
humorous and others (like the song Two Little Girls, for instance, off her
Little Plastic Castles CD) are often quite graphic in their imagery and
sometimes absolutely heartbreaking. She's highly outspoken and not afraid
to
shock, let's just put it that way.
According to this website
http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/Ani-Difranco/Wi****n-Hopin.html,
Difranco
covered the song for the Julia Roberts movie My Best Friend's Wedding. She
covers songs well and others over the years have covered her songs, too.
(Alana Davis did a great version of Ani's song 32 Flavors back in the
90's,
for instance and it fared well on the top 40.) Wi****n and Hopin is just
not
really the type nor the caliber of song that she'd ever *write*, however.
Not even close. She's got the pipes to *perform* it and do well at it,
however, which obviously she did, and it ended up on a film soundtrack.
