It's a common problem with s****ts stars who don't know when to retire.
You see them out there, looking the same, but with greatly diminished
skills, trying to play the game they have lost the ability to play, and
embarrassing themselves.
People should know when to retire. Brian is pu****ng the envelope. His
voice is shot, and his new songs that I have heard are just tired
parodies of his old, tried and tested formulas, sung by a man who's voice
has lost any power it once had. It happens to all of us. My voice always
sought out the Brian range, because that's where my power was, but
nowadays, I find it seeking out Carl range, singing the contralto. I can
still hit the falsetto notes, but I sound thin and squeaky. No power left
there any more. And I'm 10 years younger than Brian.
Crowds may leave happy, but they leave happy because of the complete
package they have just heard. These are also UK crowds, who have always
been more receptive of Brian tan US crowds since 1966. They are also
exclusively crowds who have come to see the musical legend. There isn't a
bad review in the bunch.
I'm not saying that Brian should stop touring if that's what he loves
doing, but based on what I have heard from the studio, he should give up
any aspiration of making new studio material. He can't even sound good
using all the tricks the studio has to offer.
