I didn't paint it to be anything.  All I said was that I know the
place and don't know California and thought that might be one reason
why the Beatles mean more to me than the Beach Boys.  As it happens I
do like the place.  I wouldn't choose to live in a city but if I had
to, I'd go back to Liverpool.  I like the people (generally but
obviously not all of them), I like the river front, I love the humour,
I like the theatres and galleries.  And I suppose I feel sort of at
home there as many generations of my family lived there, and with that
connection to Liverpool and with being 8 years old when the Beatles
first exploded onto the radio, Beatles will be more im****tant to me
than Beach Boys any day.  That's my bias and I'm happy with it.

But I still love Good Vibrations, God Only Knows and Heroes Adn
Villains.
