I bought it, so you can't blame me.
(And I don't think you can blame Barbara Ann, either.)
It's not as good as 'Rhonda.'
The tempo drags a bit.
The sections of "dead air" have no logic to them. It's a gimmick that
just doesn't work.
The "dead air" sabotages the kids who're dancing to it.
You want the kids to "Dance, Dance, Dance" right on the spot, and make
the beat really hot, not pull the rug out from under them just when
they're getting into the groove.
The three-note repeating organ arpeggio was a dumb idea. In fact, the
organ should have been dropped altogether and more guitar added.
The phrase "She's not the little girl I once knew" is repeated too many
times and becomes tiresome.
Mike Love's intonation on "Split, man!" is creepy.
