In the Wenner interviews in 1970, and later in the Playboy interview
(1980) JL was pretty consistent in his recollection of writing "Come
Together"
"Come Together" is me - writing obscurely around an old Chuck
Berry thing. I left in the line "Here come old flat-top." It is
nothing like the Chuck Berry song, but they took me to court because I
admitted the influence once years ago. I could have changed it to
"Here comes old iron face," but the song remains independent of Chuck
Berry or anybody else on earth.
In talking with Wenner, he uses the word "stylistically" in place of
"writing obscurely around" in the above. By that time - December 1970,
I think- Levy was already suing them or threatening to sue them.

What I would like to know is, in what 1969 interview (possibly in the
context of the Sept release of AR) did he first "admit the
influence" ? What did he actually say, the first time out of the box?
