Is there any activity at all in this (r.m.b.m) newsgroup? I haven't
seen anything in several weeks. Anyway...
The album "A Hard Day's Night," as originally released in the UK (now
everywhere on CD) has only 13 songs, instead of the usual 14.
Conspicuously absent is Ringo's usual one lead vocal. That much is
certain.
I'd guess that they'd planned to record the album's 14th track on the
afternoon of 3 June 1964, but this session wasn't held because of
Ringo's sudden illness that morning. (Actually they rehearsed with
Ringo's tem****ary replacement instead, and didn't record anything for
commercial release, just a few demos.) My question is, does anyone know
what they'd planned to record that afternoon as the album's 14th song?
Would it have been Ringo's lead vocal for the album? Or would they have
used "Matchbox," recorded two days earlier, for the album, and recorded
another John/Paul song for the "Long Tall Sally" EP? I'm sure that
somebody out there knows the answer to this. Thanks!
