Here's a question I've always wondered about when it comes to the solo
releases:
When Paul McCartney began the dissolution of Beatles Corp. to gain
independence, each Beatle was still releasing albums through Apple/
EMI, and publi****ng through Northern Songs.
On the original LPs -- which I don't own, having lost all of mine due
to cir***stances beyond my control -- were the material copyrighted by
their individual companies and licensed to Apple/EMI? Or was this
changed after the dissolution of Apple in 1975 so that they became
that way?
And, more im****tantly: wouldn't Sony, through its owner****p of
Northern Songs, own those early Lennon & McCartney pieces, or was a
separate deal done later on to split those parts of the catalogue off?
Specifically, I'm looking at "Maybe I'm Amazed" which is Northern
Songs on the McCartney CD but MPL on All The Best!
