I was terrified about FaaB and RL before that first broadcast of
Anthology,
but in the event, I was deeply moved by them, to my surprise. It really
felt
as if John had come back to life and the Beatles were performing /Beatles/
songs again, even though I could hear things like the difference in
fidelity
between John's voice and the others'. Personally, I'd be /delighted/ if
it
were possible to have more like that!

Yeah, that's fine, but the interviews on the web site made it sound as if
both
the surviving Beatles and the Martins thought the mixed-up versions were
more
than a soundtrack for what was really a dance performance rather than a
musical one; they were billed as giving profound new insights into the
Beatles' music. I thought that was way over the top. If you want to say
"once is enough," for me the "once" was Harry Nilsson's "You Can't Do
That."
