Hi all,
I recently came across a website where you could look up what the
number one song on the American charts on any particular date. It was
fun looking at what topped the chart when I was born, and my siblings
and others. It soon dawned on me that it might be fun to see what was
number one on the birthdate of each of the four Beatles.
So here they are:
--------------------------------------------------------
Ringo Starr
"The Woodpecker Song" by Glenn Miller
Some of the lyrics are:
Hear him pickin' out a melody
Peck, peck, peckin' at the same old tree.
He's as happy as a bumble bee
All day long.
--------------------------------------------------------
George Harrison
"There Are Such Things" by Tommy Dorsey
-Vocal by Frank Sinatra & The Pied Pipers
Some of the lyrics are:
A heart that's true -- there are such things
A dream for two -- there are such things.
Someone to whisper, "Darling, you're my guiding star,"
Not caring what you own, but just what you are.
--------------------------------------------------------
Paul McCartney
"Sleepy Lagoon" by Harry James
Some of the lyrics are:
A sleepy lagoon, a tropical moon and two on an island
A sleepy lagoon and two hearts in tune in some lullabyland
The fireflies' gleam reflects in the stream
They sparkle and ****mmer
A star from on high falls out of the sky
And slowly grows dimmer
--------------------------------------------------------
John
"I'll Never Smile Again" by Tommy Dorsey
Some of the lyrics are:
I'll never smile again
Until I smile at you
I'll never laugh again
What good would it do?
For tears would fill my eyes
My heart would realize
That our romance is through
