We'll be able to check that factoid "real soon now".
Here's an email I got from The Daily Mirror..
>Thank you for registering your interest in our website
www.mirrorarchive.co.uk
>To update you: this site has not yet been officially launched. We are now
entering our final phase of development and testing, which is scheduled to
be completed over the next few weeks.
>Please be assured that you will be amongst the very first to be notified
when we officially unveil the site.
>As you are aware, www.mirrorarchive.co.uk will allow you to access
articles and full pages from the back catalogue of the Daily Mirror
newspaper, dating right back to the first edition in 1903 - an exciting
resource which we believe will help you to complete your research with
greater ease.
>Thank you for your patience, and we look forward to welcoming you to the
Mirror Archive in the very near future.
>Kind regards,
The only snag is that it was in October 2007! And I've just checked (June
2008) and it says to
me... "Coming Soon".
