Not sure, that's the legend...
There was a definite feeling by the staff there, well...the older
staff anyway...that "the boys" as they called them...had gotten away
from simpler times, which of course they had. "the boys are here
tonight you know," they would smile at us and say, knowing we were
keen admirers. Made it very hard to concentrate on what you were there
for, I will tell you. You found yourself going to the canteen,
bathroom, anything, in hopes of running into one of more of them, and
very often you would. Then when you did run into them, you'd stand
there like an idiot not knowing what to say. So you'd say something
silly like our drummer Mike did once when he asked John if he had
change for a pound while standing in front a vending machine. And when
John searched his pockets and came up empty, it was both funny, and
somehow reassuring, that they were indeed at least a little like the
rest of us. ;).
Both Paul and George very approachable but I did not feel that way
about John as he was with Yoko nearly every moment, and one didn't get
the feeling he was up to being interrupted, though I in fact did once,
with surprisingly pleasant results...;)
