Another thread suggests that Purple Chick issues are really collations
of existing transfers such as the Dr Ebbett series, which were indeed
taken fromthe MFSL vinyl. They add other stuff sourced elsewhere -- I
have all the Ebbett stereo editions but the Purple Chick stuff (freely
available via Google search) is good for finding mono versions in
particular -- and the mono versions of albums up to and including Sgt
Pepper were usually the ones the EMI engineers laboured over most
heavily - stereo was treated as a new fad and not given any special
care in the early years.
