Subject: [songbirds] Bill Finegan R.I.P.

I have just received the sad news that Bill Finegan has passed away. Bill
was 91 years old and lived in central Connecticut. Among his many
accomplishments, he wrote extensively for the Glenn Miller Orchestra
("Little Brown Jug", "Pennsylvania 6-500" were two of the more famous
hits),
and much of the music for the brilliant band he co-led with Eddie Sauter.
I
met Bill in 1961 when he agreed to write the arrangements for my first
album
on the Columbia label, and we have been friends ever since. I will miss
him
terribly.
