Anyone here know anything about Jessie Clifton, who (apparently, at
least) recorded a Jimmie Rodgers tribute LP, "The Jimmie Rodgers
Story," for the Mercury Nashville subsidiary ***berland, circa
1965? . I've hit a wall on learning any more about this alleged Mr.
Clifton--who spelled "Jessie" female style--and may not have existed
outside of that LP. It could be a name for an anonymous studio
singer--though it would be interesting to know who that might be. The
thing is, the same discount label featured known and semi-known acts
such as Jimmy Riddle, Shot Jackson, and even Pete Drake, so it can't
be ruled out that there reallyw as a "Jessie Clifton". Any
authorities on country on Mercury out there?
