Fadeaway Encounter

(from http://www.myspace.com/willdockery
)

Life is looking lighter
I done thrown some lucky dice.
Packed my trunk, I'm leaving
float down south to paradise.

Going fi****ng in the morning
with a chicken that knows my name.
Said the sky fell down last night
after the poolhall went insane.

Fadeaway encounter
through black hills and green water.
If I win the lottery I swear
I spark your daughter.

Everything costs too much
In this dirty old town.
So we mostly stand on the corner
clicking our heels around.

Seen Ranger on the court sqaure
about as high as I can see.
Mumbling about how it ain't fair
he didn't shoot no deputy.

Told me about the old man
Arbuckle is dead.
Then he started to grandstand
went and let it get to his head.

Fadeaway encounter
through black hills and green water.
Don't ask me cause it all depends
float downstream, then float on farther.

I said mister can you help me
my pontoon's sprung a leak.
She told me that she loved me
then sold me down the creek.

They run me from the backyard
to Smith Station backwater ****eld.
No I don't run no stop signs
but I always tend to yield.

Yeah once I had a true love
Like all my friends she's dead and gone.
That night she pledged her time to me
came down on me like wood on bone.

Fadeaway encounter
Through black hills and green water.
I'd give you a cigarette
if I only had a dollar.

Went down to the courthouse
to talk about back sup****t.
I said hey man I can't afford
to keep this boat afloat.

He's the king of Shadowville
eats what he kills
he's a self made man.
Good luck to you all,
someone has to take the fall
he'll smile when he shakes your hand -

The preacher man was snarling
I swear he had blood in his eyes.
The middle of Summertime
but these streets are cold as ice.

Everything I'm saying
let me make it perfectly clear.
The hanging judge has no pity
rules this town with fear.

Fadeaway encounter
through black hills and green water.
I have to remind myself this time
I remember that I forgot her.

Floating by the backlots
Chicken's got his spurs on now.
He's got his big red hat on
raving about some gospel plow.

I said mister can you tell me
how can a chicken know my name?
He said son
all the little people know your name.

Aliens ants and angels
green monkeys in the trees
Common folks in offices
that kill you by degrees.

Fadeaway encounter
through black hills and green water.
I swear if I play this game again
I'll trade this boat for a helicopter.
