Double reed acoustic theory/chanter/tone holes/drone design...Help

by Nemo <captainnemonowhere@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Feb 5, 2008 at 10:15 AM

Hey all,

Newbie here - trying to get acoustic formulas on building chanters,
drilling holes, and making drones. Not plans, per se, but formulas:
where to drill holes on a given conical bore (either stepped or simple
cone) to get particular frequencies on a chanter of my own building?
I understand the ratio of the cone will determine finger spacing for
the holes, but not how.
I found an old spread sheet doc on crumhorn design (old double reed
shawm-like thing), but didn't know how to adjust it.

Wanting to try to build: UP chanter, GHB chanter, GHB practice
chanter, Duduk (Armenian double reed), other fun double reed
"things". Fun stuff for myself.

Just trying to get ideas. Anybody want to help?

Thanks!
