Hello,
Im new to the group. I have a J G Company violin that I bought
from an elderly lady whos husband had died. She said he played fiddle
music in the 5os and 60s. the neck was loose from the body of it but
the rest looked good, through an untrained eye. I looked inside for a
label and I found the J G trade mark. I dont know anything about
makers of violins and was wondering if maby someone could tell me how
to find out how old the inst. is.
I took it to a local music store and they glued the neck back on,
attached a new nut, new strings, replaced the bridge, and a new cord
for the tail piece. It sounds richer and louder than my other violinl.
the store manager offered mt $150. for it, but, I said no! He only
charged me $100. parts and labor. I would also like to know what this
co. made their insts. out of.
Thanks,
Phillip
