'The Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the orchestra of Hessischer
Rundfunk (hr-Sinfonieorchester) came into being eighty years ago and
thrived in an astoni****ngly wide repertoire at that time under its
distinguished conductor Hans Rosbaud. Wolff has been its director from
1997 to 2006, continuing the same approach to adventurous programming
and flexible interpretation. If any new recorded set of Beethoven
symphonies is justified, then it could well be this one.'
