I came across a reference a few years ago that I can't seem to find
again and I'd like to clarify it. It said to the effect that there was
a time period back when (?? pre-1900's) when it was illegal to im****t
any musical instruments from certain countries, so all incoming
instruments were stamped "Germany" as they made their way in. Does
anyone know of this reference?
