.... sit back and not notice *quite* so much about the stringed
instruments being played in the performance.
We went to the Globe Theatre in London to see "The Merry Wives of
Windsor" this afternoon. The strolling player accompanied himself on a
waldzither with steel strings... and the lute player had the top six
strings tuned to guitar tuning, and was using a capo across those six.
Heck. I guess I could play lute in the theatre, too, if that's how you
do it.
After about half an hour, Jane told me to shut up and listen to the
play... :-) Which was really excellent, and the best five pounds I've
spent on a performance in quite a while. And it didn't rain on us, which
given the summer we're having was quite a bonus.
