I've measured changes in the response of guitars with playing, and
similar changes from this sort of artificial stimulation. These are
always of the same sort (mosty, the bass range gets stronger), and
whether they are good or bad depends on the guitar and what you want.

One thing I've found is that with a direct drive setup you need to get
at least two watts into the top to get anywhere in a reasonable length
of time. I suspect that would be more like a hundred watts thorugh a
speaker blasting the top in the air: most of the energy just bounces
off when you do it that way. Even the direct driver can get pretty
loud!
