Hi Folks,
Been away for a while. Need to respond to some things.

First and foremost, my belated and deep condolences to the family of
Chris Rockliffe. Wow. I will miss him.

In lighter news...
* In a couple of weeks I'll get my confirmation of member****p into the
Old Fogey's club. My opthamologist (who likes talking History with me)
has prescribed /bifocals/! Well, at least I'll be able to look down my
nose at people with a purpose. ;-)

Music news:
* I'm doing a feature set (about 1/2 hour) at the Queen Bean in Modesto
CA on July 27 at 8:30. Please come by if you are in the area.

* I've acquired a Zoom H2. Cool gadget! I recorded scratch tracks for
three songs in a half hour!

* You all should know about Eric Skye. Holy Smoke! What he does on a
SCGC D12 is wonderful. http://www.ericskye.com/
He'll be in San Jose on
July 24. Contact Darryl Noda at dhnoda"AT"sbcglobal"DOT"net for info.

NG stuff:
* Just a suggestion: If you're going to post a YouTube link, could you
at least bother to write something about what it is we're going to see
when we click the link?

* George: enjoy your new mando! It looks great.

* Hawkins: If I had pockets as deep as yours, I'd have 2 Wingerts! :-D
Congrats, that's a lovely instrument. Is the back 4 pieces or 2?

* The 10 commandments of jamming are a good start, but they need to be
more widely used. The BG folks have tradition of jamming in a circle.
Both song picks and lead breaks get passed around in one direction
(usually clockwise). Usually everyone plays the song (BG tunes are
simple so if you don't already know a song it's pretty easy to pick up),
and jambusters are discouraged. Jambusters are songs that no one knows,
are too complex, or sufficiently outside the BG genre that the BG police
(self appointed purist grumps, usually) get all huffy and warn you
about the song you've picked being "no part of nothin'."

Certainly these habits can be adopted in all jams, with exceptions made
for genres and singer/songwriters looking to share their creations.

* Larry, I've got your address in my earthink address book now. You
should no longer be blocked.

Best to all,
Daniel
