One of the many things that impresses me about humanity is its
seemingly endless capacity for suffering, pain, and loss. We've seen
so much of it just here on RMMGA that I hesitate to introduce yet
another tale. Nevertheless I am compelled to do so.
I had not heard of Katie Reider until I read of her in the Atlantic
Flyer - an East Coast aviation newspaper that I write for
occasionally. I did know her father Rob through his airshow announcing
and exchanged a few emails with him. If you're in the Midwest you may
have heard of him since he's a TV personality as well.
Rob's daughter Katie was a singer-songwriter of some talent and her
career was progressing well until January of 2006 when she developed a
tumor that put an end to her peforming, and since the story was
written, as I learned upon visiting the web site, her life. She died
July 14 after a horrendous struggle which even near the end, seemed as
though she might win.
A site has been created to share her music and to help her family cope
with the expenses incurred in fighting her illness. For $1 you can
download 9 of her songs, remember a fallen musician, and help her
family. Hard to beat a deal like that.
I hope you will visit http://www.500kin365.org/main.htm
and enjoy
Katie's music.
Katie's regular web site is http://katiereider.com
As Q said to Picard "Your species is always suffering and dying." I
say "but some of us do it so well."
Thanks,
fdp
