Hello!
I have decided to purchase a pickup for my nylon stringed acoustic instead
of buying a new guitar. I have allocated $175 for this purchase: $150
for
the pickup and $25 for tax and ****pping. I am looking for suggestions
based
on the following guidelines:
1) I am not opposed to drilling holes in my guitar.
2) For whatever setup I get, It needs to be able to send a signal to my
amp that would be considered "normal". In other words, I do not want to
have to use any kind of stationary pickup system. I am expecting whatever
I
get to be battery powered.
3) I am also not opposed to having to wear a clip on thingamajig that I
don't know too much about but I think is referred to a DI. In other
words,
this can run straight to the amp from the guitar or it can run through the
belt clip thingy.
4) The soundhole in this guitar is pretty tiny, and my hand can only
get
in there a few inches. If an under-soundboard mic is the overwhelming
suggestion, I will see if I can get a co-worker's child to do the mounting
unless someone has a suggestion on how I could do this.
5) The purpose for this pickup is for both public playing through an
amp
as well as for recording. In case anyone is interested, the guitar is a
La
Patrie "Motif", a parlor sized guitar.
6) There is one product out there made by Shadow that I do not want.
It
is a replacement bridge pickup with a volume control dial. I would prefer
to not go this route.
Based upon the above criteria, is there anything out there that will give
me
what I'm looking for? Am I way under budget for this? If it makes a
difference, I just installed a Baggs M1A pickup on my Seagull S6.
Thanks!
Rob
