heard often, but especially known from the end of "Rock Around the Clock"

And by extension (and in agreement with Danny), same is true for Bebop 
scales, and as we've discussed, Major and minor scales (among other
things). 
Music doesn't "come from" scales - scales are merely a representation of
the 
"main" notes in a piece of music (though of course scales can be 
reverse-engineered to become "constructional" devices).
