Re: Ulnar nerve entrapment

by "david teague" <davidbteague@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 23, 2008 at 03:17 AM

I play double bass in Fifths Tuning. I had surgery on my middle finger left

hand to reconstruct a damaged/torn tendon sheath.

Regardless of the diagnosis, a second opinion is a good thing. Surgery is
no
picnic and can be dangerous. I had the opinion of my local orthopedist as
well as that of the hand surgeon that I would need surgery.

My surgeon plays mandolin. I made certain that he and the hand therapist
were aware that I play upright bass.

The result of my surgery was spectacular. Surgery was in mid May and 4
months later, I was playing and I played a full season that fall. I
recommend that you try to find a surgeon who plays a stringed instrument,
and make the surgeon aware that you play and are quite serious about
playing. Then do exactly what the surgeon says to do, on his schedule.

It worked for me.

Warmest Regards
David Teague
