The instrument that looks like a tambourine is actually a pandeiro.
Both the skin and the jingles are constructed differently. Pandeiro is
a challenging instrument which, when played well, can sound quite a
bit like an entire drum set.

Carlinhos Pandeiro De Ouro, was 10 years old when he performed in the
film. He went on to have a career on pandeiro, and still plays and
teaches.
